Summer School 2016-2017
Dates: June 19 – June 29th and July 10th – July 20th
(Offered as 2 Sessions)
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
Times: 8:15 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
For: Students entering 1st through 5th grade
Location: Cascades Elementary School, 2163 S. 7th Street, Lebanon
Students will take part in various activities and experiments designed to develop critical thinking skills in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Daily activities, as well as weekly projects, will be focused on student growth through independent and collaborative problem solving. Achievement of this growth will be supported by explicit language and vocabulary development, as well as technical skill development in applicable areas of mathematics.
Sample topics to be covered during the sessions:
– Plant Life Cycles and Local Ecology
– Air and Ocean: A flight and a float
– Build a Building, then Build it Better
– The Slippery Science of Soap
Additionally, students will be receiving multiple opportunities to be physically active throughout their days. They will have daily recess breaks, as well as scheduled P.E. time in the gym, to primarily facilitate this.
Cost: FREE (donations for supplies gladly accepted)
Meals: Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day.
Transportation: Transportation is not provided.
Student attendance is critical to the success of this program.
